It is important to us that we make a difference – not only in the field of pharmaceuticals. As an international company we have a natural obligation to act responsibly and to make an effort in our surrounding societies.
For us, acting responsibly means among other things to have a sustainable and responsible business and management, to have a diversified workforce and take care of our employees, to minimize our negative impact on our surrounding environment and to support initiatives for promotion of human and labor rights and anti-bribery.
Hence, corporate social responsibility forms an integrated part of our business activities and we define and evaluate our targets within this area on a yearly basis. Our CSR-policy serves as an overall standard for these efforts and can be found in its total length here.
Our social responsibility goes beyond our own internal value chain. Social responsibility is also important to us when we select suppliers and products. Therefore, Orifarm has adopted a Supplier Code of Conduct. The aim of this Supplier Code of Conduct is to support the growth of a responsible and profitable business with our suppliers and partners. The Supplier Code of Conduct outlines our expectations towards our suppliers and forms part of all engagement between Orifarm and its suppliers.

Within our two business areas, we aim to be a progressive player in the healthcare business that provides competition for the market and savings for consumers and society.
Our generic business provides millions in savings, as generic products are significantly cheaper compared to original products. Due to reimbursements from the authorities, which are calculated on the basis of the cheapest medicine, generic pharmaceuticals saved the Danish society EUR 800 million in 2014.
To us, sustainable management has several meanings. First of all, we focus on taking good care of our employees and secondly, we aim to create a motivating environment, where our employees thrive and develop.
In addition to this, we value being a social and friendly organisation that accommodates diversity. Diversity in Orifarm is about recognizing employees because of, not despite of the fact that they are different. For instance, we have successful experiences in employing physically and mentally disabled people on special and individualized terms. We see the potential of each employee and create opportunities for everyone to develop at work.
Being an international company, it is also of great competitive importance that we share experiences and gather learnings from each other's different cultures.
Furthermore, Orifarm places great emphasis on being a good and compentent partner for our stakeholders. Therefore, it is natural for us to work against corruption and to promote good business ethics.
It is our aim to contribute to a better environment by ensuring that environmental concerns are a natural part of all our activities.
Orifarm primarily effects the environment through the resources we use in our buildings and for transportation. To minimize environmental impact, we have incorporated an environmental policy throughout the whole organisation that guides us on how to take care of the environment in daily life. This means that we constantly work to reduce our energy consumption and waste management.
Our environmental policy is being renewed every second year in order to ensure that we keep focusing on this area and setting new goals.
To evaluate and monitor that we are meeting the goals and requirements in our environmental policy, we make a biennial environmental report as well.

Charity and Philanthropy
As a successful pan-European company, we consider it our duty to take on social responsibility and to contribute to improving the conditions for humans, animals and nature. Our charity actions continue a long standing tradition in our company. For many years we have been committed to projects worldwide that help people in need and provide support to future development at both local, national and international levels.
One of our largest charity projects has been the H.C. Andersen Schools in Cambodia, where Orifarms donations have lead to seven new schools and have helped numerous local children get an education.
Examples of other projects that we have supported are:
- The building of wells in India in order to ensure access to clean drinking water through DanChurchAid
- Vaccination and education of children in the Third World through UNICEF
- Projects in Southeast Asia for the survival of elephants and tigers
- Preservation of wildlife in Eastern Europe and India
- The Danish “Plant a Tree” project in a campaign to support Danish forests
- Supporting the Danish Multiple Sclerosis Society
As part of our commitment to society, we are donating our excess pharmaceuticals to hospitals in third world countries, through the organisation Global Medical Aid.
At this moment our key focus is on rural villages in Myanmar, where our donations are supporting a sustainable development.
